Founded by veteran healthcare executives, RAI's growth plan began with its acquisition of 73 dialysis centers in October 2005, which was financed in partnership with Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe. With an emphasis on quality patient outcomes, strong leadership, solid partnerships, financial stability and culture of teamwork, in just five years RAI has grown to 149 centers in 19 states with nearly 12,000 patients under its care. RAI is advancing growth in many areas. It has opened six new centers in five states since last November, and has acquired an additional seven centers, including a joint-venture with the University of Kansas Hospital. Those new centers include 129 stations and 13 home dialysis training rooms to prepare patients for treatment in their homes. As part of its expansion, RAI is preparing to move its cor -porate headquarters into new office space in the Nashville, Tenn. suburb of Franklin, Tenn., which will nearly double its existing space.
